Dear researchers, agri-techs, farmers, consumers, friends and relatives,

You have now reached the blog of Dr. Estrella Luna Diez, a BBSRC Future Leader Research Fellow in plant science currently working at the University of Birmingham (UK). I started this fellowship working in the Plant Production and Protection Centre of Excellence at the University of Sheffield. There, I had the opportunity to work closely to industry and find ways to apply my research in fundamental plant biology into real agricultural problems.

Nowadays, my work primarily focuses in the tomato crop and the overarching aim of my research is to make the tomato immune system stronger so that plants are able to fight diseases better.

Please find more information about my research projects here.

Opportunities to join the team can be found here.
